This thesis seeks to understand the way and extent CEO succession influences corporate performance. There are two types of CEO-specific main independent variables: CEO succession itself and internal vs. external successors. Besides departing CEO tenure, further relevant company- and industry-variables are controlled and examined regarding their correlation and contribution. Findings of this study are compared with major research outcomes of the past 50 years.
