La nueva derecha radical chilena en el contexto internacional: auge e ideología.
Academic Journal
This article deals with the rise and the ideology of a new political expression, which is called the "new radical right". As a central hypothesis, we maintain that the rise of this new political formation is due to the social effects of the 2008 subprime crisis, while its ideology is related to a conservative or cultural backlash reaction to certain social changes experienced by modern societies, which are perceived as a threat to living and understanding the world. In spatial terms, this work takes as an example of the expression of this new radical right the case of the Chilean political party, Partido Republicano, led by the former presidential candidate, José Antonio Kast. Methodologically, this research emphasizes a documentary style, which includes the review of primary and secondary sources, academic publications, press review, the consultation of internet sites and particularly social forums (especially twitter), belonging to the new Chilean radical right. Finally, this research is framed in the field of the intersection between sociology, political science, and international studies, adopting a perspective of international political sociology.
