Author's abstract : After over six years of persistent economic crisis and billions of US dollars, euros and pounds sterling injected by monetary authorities to contain the financial shocks and preserve the soundness of the real economy, it is high time to assess the results of public interventions. This paper examines the impact of Western monetary authorities (Federal Reserve, European Central Bank and Bank of England) on the transmission channels of the current financial crisis to the real economic sphere with a view of determining if the said monetary authorities have successfully achieved their mandates of economic growth and financial stability.
