This thesis analyzes the launch of DARE Consulting, a boutique advisory firm dedicated to helping SMEs in international strategy, export development, and sales performance. The work defines a business model aligned with the firm’s resources as a one-person consultancy firm and conducts a comprehensive strategic analysis. It covers the study of the external environment and the internal resources. From the latter, we deduct the Key Success Factors (KSF) of the consulting industry, and the identification of strategic assets that can provide sustainable advantage.
Research findings highlight that business schools increasingly seek practitioner-teachers, offering DARE Consulting the opportunity to combine consulting with teaching. This dual activity would diversify income, strengthen credibility, and enhance visibility, making it both feasible and strategically valuable.
The project integrates insights from strategic management literature, the author’s 20+ years of executive international experience (including SME CEO roles), and the academic frameworks gained through the Executive Master in International Business (EMIB) at ESCP.
In conclusion, DARE Consulting has a solid foundation for a differentiated market entry, supported by unique experience, multilingual skills, and an extensive network. However, it must still build referenceable case studies, secure institutional accreditation (BPI France, OSCI), and strengthen its digital presence. The thesis demonstrates that creating a strategic fit among its different activities can reinforce its competitive advantage. Also, acquiring continuously new skills, knowledge, is essential to make DARE Consulting stand out and hard for the competition to copy or imitate.
