The authors discuss why a theory of stakeholder governance is required and difficulties in coming about with such a theory. They comment on the importance of corporate governance and research into it based in agency theory. They talk about how governance should not just be between companies and shareholders, but also with its multiple stakeholders, and mention how the COVID-19 epidemic has accentuated this requirement.
