Blockchain technology is developing and promises great advances for businesses. Cryptocurrencies total market capitalisation is about $2 billion euros in 2021. The amount of global debt is breaking records every year to reach $18 trillion in 2020. (OECD, 2020) and central banks regulations seem powerless. Public blockchains are shaking up the classic financial system relying on central banks. Private blockchain make huge progress and Microsoft is already implementing solutions for its customers. In this study, we conduct a qualitative research with professionals working in Financial markets, in Risk management, and compagnies directors to understand what is the real status of blockchain technology. We will see that it is operating in a weak classic financial system and will explore the risks. We will analyse the different types of blockchain technologies, assess how revolutionising it they are, and draw conclusions separating crypto currencies from blockchain, yet working with each other.
