The digital transformation of the health sector has accelerated in recent years with the growth in the use of new technologies, the development of machine learning techniques and the democratization of Artificial Intelligence. The use of health data is at the heart of this digital transformation, and the topic of numerous ethical debates since health data is considered sensitive. Their processing is thus regulated by several texts, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act in France. However, fears remain about the protection of this data.
While the European Union is in the process of setting up a European health data space (EHDS), this research work therefore aims to evaluate the benefits and risks of the secondary use of health data, to better understand how to fully exploit the potential of its use while minimizing risks. The qualitative research that was carried out is at the origin of several recommendations that provide key insights to answer the previous question.
