"This study examines the drivers of private equity in the United States and Europe to understand why the US private equity market is more significant than in Europe. The study identifies key factors affecting private equity activity through factor and regression analysis, including
macroeconomic conditions, regulatory and legal frameworks, tax policies, technological advancements, and sustainability considerations. The study finds that the US's larger market can be attributed to its favourable tax policies, more developed financial markets, and leadership in technology and sustainability. The study provides valuable insights for private
equity firms, investors, and policymakers to inform investment decisions and create policies that foster a more favourable environment for private equity activity. However, the study's limitations include the analysis being based on data from a specific time and not accounting for variations in private equity activity across different sectors or regions. Overall, this study contributes to the growth and development of the private equity market and highlights the importance of macroeconomic, regulatory, and technological factors in shaping private equity activity in North America and Europe."
