"During Covid-19, like many other industries, the football market has suffered a terrific bow, that has raised the attention on some issues that were already affecting the system but that then exploded.
Every soccer stakeholder, that has a little economic knowledge, knows that the system has been developed through the years on some very not-sustainable foundations.
Indeed, investors have used football not with (only) a profit-driven mindset but mostly as a tool to increase their own image for other personal and entrepreneurial goals.
Instead, in the recent years new financial entities are entering the industry with very precise economic objectives and with very solid strategy structure.
So, what I study in this script is how investment funds (private equity firms mainly) are getting into soccer clubs’ ownership, how they want to achieve return in a theoretically “non-sustainable” industry, and how the market is changing consequently."
